Dark Venture mini review!
Bet ya didn't expect to see me back again so soon??!!!...lol... I figured why the hell not? you guys are the best, i'd leave you a mini review of the newest KS i just got, Dark Venture!!!
This was a REALLY reasonably priced KS for what you got in the box, AND i got the expansion too, which in my opinion is a must have for a game this good... You just can't have enough content when the quality is this high!!! I even got the soundtrack which is fantastic with audio soundscapes to immerse you even more in this amazing world!!!...
The game takes place in this amazing laternate dimension, post apacalyptic, weird world that is just creatively brilliant and just so much fun to lose yourself in for hours, like i have been lately....lol.
In standard RPG lite fashion, you choose a hero to play which comes with a charcater card which slots nicely into these character boards with recessed grooves for stat cubes and health trackers, etc. I MUST praise the component quality here for everything you get in the box. From Crad finish to standees to markers, to the etched dice, this game just screams high quality and worth every penny.... and ten some... I think i even owe these guys some money for how much fun i'm having here!!!...lol
The premise here is just to explore and survive a whole day from sunrise to sunset and see what kind of score you can rack up in experience points in your travels. Thats the solo objective, but this game can be played competitively and co-op too. After you choose your hero and set up all your decks and stat trackers, etc. its time to get exploring!!!... You start on a card that is called the crossroads, and from here you keep adding cards that will make up the games map as you play. The deck size for location cards isnt skimpy, so you'll have plenty of places to explore ijn your journeys in this strange new world. To make things even BETTER, they even give you 2 sets of books for actions and locations for each card of the map!!!... So you get book sets A and B, plus the expansion book if you got the expansion set, so like i said before, for this reasonable price, you get ALOT for your money... I played 2 games in a row, one using book set a and set B and the experience was completely different and enthralling to say the least... You get standees and counters to use as playing pieces in the game, and for the enemies and things you encounters also. You get 4 hefty decks for things like items, locations, characters, and raw materials for crafting and catching your own food!!!... yeah, this game is THAT damn cool!!!
Combat and exploring is all done using 4 d6s and the action and location booklets, which work kind of like choose your own adventure books... Your location cards have 2 numbers on them, and you refeence them in the books to see what happens as you explore. I wont give TOO much away here, will just leave it atyou MUST get this game, it's THAT damn good!!!... I spent like 4 days playing this and can't wait till i play again!!!... But i can't ignore all the other amazing games i have, so i gotta get back to them, but I WILL:be back to the world of Dark Venture soon!!!... And i encourage you to visit this amazing world too!!!
