D-Day Dice 2nd edition review!!!.... Wow.... what a game!!!

This sis a brand new review i'm writing here as opposed to the older ones i've been posting. I've always heard great things about this game in the past, but it was out of print and you just couldnt find copies anywhere. So when i saw they were making a 2nd edition, and then i was seeing how fast the copies were flying out of the stores, i HAD to get my hands on this game. And am i sure glad i finally did.
I'm a dice chucker at heart, so that was a major draw to this game right off the bat. The mechanics here are simple but still have a LOT more depth than i would have thought. It uses a system called RWB, and if you roll certain combos of symbols in red white and blue, you get bonuses and extra perks. The game plays solo to 5 players with a current expansion, and you roll 6 dice per turn, 2 red, 2 white and 2 blue. Then you have a big selection of gameboards, all taking place on D-Day, WW2.
The boards and the missions have so much depth and strategy involved to just make it up the board, very similar to how it must have been in realtime WW2! I've found myself getting apart by machine gun fire after i i had thought i built up a large enough force through the RWB bonuses, but nope, I was getting ripped apart so i had to change my strategy and hope for good luck on my next rolls. Luckily, my strategy and luck paid off and i was able to storm and take this bunker. But what a challenge and fun time was had!
I now it doesnt sound that exciting on paper as i'm writing this review, but trust me, once you start rolling these dice and moving around the battlefields, you are pulled into WW2, it's that incredible of a game experience. Sure its lighter fare than more serious and technical WW2 simulations, but this was made to be played fast, easy and just very slick and clever.. This is just pure gaming bliss with dice and a serious theme, but man, did they pull this off incredibly well!.
I have the expansion too but havent gotten that far yet, but be sure I will be writing that up too....lol Component quality is top notch and you get a ton of decks of small cards, so it a table hog, and then you get stat counter dials for 5 different countries armies to track your progress and achievements. I'm in the early stages still and the gameplay is so tense and exciting. And yes, it is dice based, so plenty of luck is involved, but so is strategy and deep thinking using what you have to creat situations that will keep your men alive and moving up the board. This is just a well thought and brilliant little system of dice gameplay.I say it has to be played to be fully experienceced and then you'll understand all my raves, but good luck finding a copy now. If you are lucky enought to come across a copy iof this and the expansion, grab them!!!.... You will NOT be sorry. This is some of the best dice based gameplay i've experienced with an exciting WW2 theme, I still can't believe how good this game is. I have to cook dinner right now, but as soon asi'm done cookind eating dinner, i'm diving right back into this little masterpiece.
This is one of those games that makes you happy you're a gamer and put in the effort of tracking down a copy of this amazing game and expansion. I know there are more expansions coming because they had plenty of 1st edition expansions, so theyre converting them all to 2nd editions. I said it before and I will say it again, get this game as soon as you can, and if youre WW2 buffs, even better, youre going to be blown awayby what they've accomplished with a stack of small gameboards, some card decks and a tray full of dice. This IS gaming magic at its finest.
